Garage Sales in North Carolina

My husband and I are garage sale fanatics. We have visited the Route 127 Garage Sale 4 times (450 miles from KY to AL)! This year, we are venturing to North Carolina (from NJ) and were wondering if there are any great garage sale events happening in July. Our plans are to start on July 10th and return by the 20th. Any ideas other than just driving through some small towns? We also love the beach, seafood, dancing, quiet walks. Hard to decide what beach to stay at. In our 50%26#39;s so the club scenes are really not our style. Thanks!

Most newspapers run yard sale ads for the upcoming Saturday. There will be yard sales all over the state every Saturday that weather permits. Most people around here check the papers and just get out and ride on Sat. mornings.

Beach - I%26#39;d recommend any of the beaches south of Myrtle Beach - Surfside, Litchfield, Garden City.

Best wishes.

Just about all the NC and SC beaches have at least one dance venue dedicated to Beach Music which should be right up your alley. If you are in your 50%26#39;s there will be plenty of people 20 years either side of you! I don%26#39;t know of any large, long running yar sales but Raleigh has a good flea market at the state fairgrounds on weekends. If you are travelling in July, you might want to think of hitting the mountains on your way to the coast.

Are you familiar with the state dance of NC and SC (so I have read). It%26#39;s The Shag. There are several versions of the Shag. Love the Carolina Shag, easy and smooth danced to beach music.

Nothing against Surfside, Litchfield, or Garden City (I have property at the latter), but this is the NORTH CAROLINA forum. We have plenty of great beaches in this state, so why send them to SC? ;)

I%26#39;d suggest either the South Brunswick beaches (Holden, Ocean Isle, and Sunset), or anywhere on the Outer Banks besides Nags Head/Kitty Hawk. Both areas feature quiet beaches with lots of good seafood options close by. You might also consider the Wilmington area beaches (Wrightsville, Kure, Carolina), as the city of Wilmington offers a lot to do.

Just wondering why not Kitty Hawk or Nags Head?

There%26#39;s a lot of town-wide or city-wide yard sales that happen before it gets terrible hot. But you might google town-wide yard sale or city-wide and page through them.

You might like this big flea market every weekend in Raleigh. Funnel cake, bbque and collectibles, oh m. We%26#39;ve only been twice and they had some good stuff :

I keep this list...in case...and have only been to a couple so far but maybe it could help you:

These are great lists! Thank you. I am sure we will visit one of these depending on the route we take. Take care.

arby - it%26#39;s a shorter drive to the SC beaches and there%26#39;s more to do there. MB is the #2 destination in the country. Of course NC beaches are nice but around where I live ( Charlotte area) 8 or 9 times out of 10 if someone says they are going to '; the beach'; - it%26#39;s the Grand Strand. It%26#39;s really OK to suggest a SC beach on the NC forum - it%26#39;s the easiest drive for a newcomer...and with the other choices the poster mentioned, that area is the logical choice.I agree Holden and Sunset, etc... or fine choices - I%26#39;ve stayed there. I like Litchfield area better - wider beaches and more dining choices...more upscale accommodations as well. Just a preference. Best wishes to you.
