My daughter and I will be visiting Duke in mid July. We will only be in Durham for 2 days, and I don%26#39;t want to rent a car. What would be the best way for me to get from the airport to our hotel near Duke? Also, restaurant suggestions would be helpful--we like ethnic cuisine. Thanks for your help!
Duke University
What hotel is is? Many have a shuttle from RDU. Call the hotel to ask. Otherwise, take a taxi.
Here%26#39;s the ground transportation link for RDU:

Unless the hotel has its own shuttle service, the best choice is a taxi. There%26#39;s also public bus, but picking the best route from the airport to the specific part of Durham your hotel is in, may be a headache. I%26#39;d go with a cab.
Restaurants are easy when visiting Duke. The best spot to start is Ninth Street, which is within walking distance of the university%26#39;s east campus. It%26#39;s Duke%26#39;s ';college row'; but has upscale places along with the cheap college fair. You really can%26#39;t go wrong starting there. Elmo%26#39;s Diner is great family fare. Cosmic Cantina features rooftop burritos. George%26#39;s Garage and Magnolia Grill give you good fine dining options. Francesca%26#39;s is a dessert cafe you must try. And there%26#39;s also Indian, Vietnamese, Irish pub, etc etc. Lots of great shops there too.
If you wanna venture into downtown, there%26#39;s lots more fine dining options including Piedmont, Toast, Another Thyme, Pop%26#39;s, Rue Cler and so on.
A good place for lunch near West Campus would be Chai%26#39;s. People rave about their noodle dishes. The Thai Cafe is also an excellent place, but it%26#39;s a bit further from campus. A cab ride would be necessary.
It would be much easier for to rent a car, unless you%26#39;re okay with taking cabs often. The public transportation around Durham is not near as user friendly as places like Chapel Hill.
Thanks for all your suggestions. It seems there are plenty of options for dining. We are looking forward to visiting Duke (my daughter%26#39;s first choice)!
