Our family will be coming to Asheville on June 5 for a 2 day stay. We have an 11 year old son and we%26#39;re looking for a hotel within walking distance of downtown. The Renassaine looks nice but we would prefer to not spend that much. Preferably the hotel would have a pool as well.
Any suggestions?

We have an 11 yr old as well so I understand the whole pool necessity! The only other hotel downtown that has a pool is the Four Pts by Sheraton(Starwood) ... it is just ok. It is right across the street from the Renaissance so you should be able to get it fairly cheaply. I would probably classify it as a 2 star property though it may rank higher as it has a full-svc restaurant inside. Otherwise there is a Residence Inn on Biltmore Ave but it is about a 1 miles walk (mostly uphill) into town.

Thanks. I%26#39;ll look into that. 2 stars is a little scary though!
Because I live here I%26#39;ve never stayed...it may be better now than it used to be...check out reviews. Otherwise I%26#39;d probably stay somewhere on Tunnel Road or at the Crowne Plaza - both only a little bit of a drive. Parking downtown is usually no problem.
The new Brookstone Lodge would be a good choice , it has an indoor pool and free continental breakfast. the only setback is you are a 5 min drive into downtown Asheville.
I%26#39;ll look into the Brookstone. I don%26#39;t mind a short drive if the hotel is nice.
I agree..Brookstone Lodge would be a great option. It is brand new and REALLY nice. Plus it is close to Asheville%26#39;s Fun Depot, so it would be a nice evening activity for your 11 year old.
Follow up-we just returned from an overnight stay at Brookstone Lodge and it was just what we were looking for! It was extremely clean and the employees could not have been any nicer. It was a short walk to Asheville Fun Depot which was perfect for our family!
Thanks for the recommendation.
