Beach Suggestions
Hi Chef,
There are a number of beaches in NC, but I would generally categorize them into 4 groups:
First is the Outer Banks. The Nags Head/Kitty Hawk area is most crowded, and would consequently offer more ';night life'; than the rest of the OBX, which tends to be more remote fishing village-type places. Still, there%26#39;s lots of fun to be had out there. Check out http://www.outerbanks.org/ for lots of info.
Second is the group of beaches between Morehead City and Wilmington, including Emerald Isle, North Topsail, and Surf City. These are smaller, more family oriented beaches. While there are some decent bars here and there, these are generally not known for their night life.
Third are the Wilmington area beaches--Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure beaches. These have the advantage of being near Wilmington, so the nightlife will definitely be better.
Last are the South Brunswick beaches (Holden, Ocean Isle, and Sunset). These are also smaller, family-oriented beaches, but they have the advantage of being close to Myrtle and all its attractions and nightlife.
For info on the Wilmington and South Brunswick beaches, see http://www.insiders.com/wilmington/
Good luck!
My suggestion for young people looking for nightlife would be Wrightsville Beach, lots to do in Wilmington. Carolina Beach would be a close second..and its just 15-20 minutes from Wilmington.
Or....what about Myrtle Beach, SC...you are very close. TONS of nightlife there!! And its Senior Week time...so lots of 18-ish year olds. ;)
thanks guys, been a great help. We might try Wrightsville beach.
For nightlife I%26#39;d suggest Myrtle Beach. LOTS to do there.
Myrtle Beach is Ok if you%26#39;re into the redneck scene. Otherwise, I%26#39;d highly recommend Wrightsville Beach. The nightlife in nearby downtown Wilmington (waterfront area) is by far the best in coastal North Carolina. Not to mention the dining and shopping options, along with the historic charm.
