Hello,
Does anyone know the times of year you can drive on the beach at Topsail. I%26#39;m also looking to bring my dogs on the beach too like in Hatteras. Are there specific areas of Topsail that are better for this and can you recommend.
I%26#39;m so used to Hatteras Island but looking for somewhere else due to all the beach access closures and crowds that have come along over the years.
Thanks!!

You can drive on the beaches here in Surf City after the second week in Sept. till May 14. You can drive on the Noth End a little way out year round. As much as they hate it up there.
Dogs must be on a leash in Surf City and most likely NTB too.

On any given day you will see people driving/parked at the northern end of N. Topsail. Mostly people fishing, families enjoying the beach. There are not miles of beach front to drive on, most just drive out to park. The accses road can be a little soft, we have seen many people stuck here. I%26#39;d recommend 4 wheel drive, or an experienced ';sand driver';lol.
For our 4 legged friends, there are leash laws, and they are strickly enforced. I have seen dogs at the beach and beibg walked all over the island. I think down at the south end there is a beach where your dog does not have to be on a leash.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the replies.
That%26#39;s pretty much what I%26#39;m looking to do, just find a nice quite spot to park on the beach and relax. Does that area of the beach in N. Topsail get very crowded? Is there much space between me and the other vehicles? I%26#39;m not too concerned with leash laws, I always have my dogs on a leash, I just want to have them with me on the beach.
Thanks again!
The area at North Topsail where people drive is along the New River Inlet. We were up there last summer and it was mostly people fishing.
If you REALLY want to get away from the crowds, you will want to drive to the very south end where the beach/island has built up so much as the inlet moves south with the sand thanks to Mother Nature.
Of course, being able to drive on the beach down there would depend on the time of year. Can%26#39;t during summer.
