Charlotte - with dogs and a Uhaul!

I%26#39;m moving across country and will be stopping overnight in Charlotte - with my two dogs and a Uhaul! I%26#39;m looking for a dog-friendly hotel that is walking distance from restaurants/scenery. Restuarants do not have to be dog-friendly - but if they are, it%26#39;s a plus! I%26#39;ve never been to Charlotte before and would like to at least see some of the city (I will arrive about 3pm and will leave the next day), but don%26#39;t want to drive my truck with Uhaul attached all over a ';foreign'; city. Any suggestions are appreciated!

What size are the dogs? Which way will you be coming in and heading out?

Good question! I suppose I should have said as much...The dogs are 30 lbs each. I%26#39;ll be headed in from the south/southwest and headed northeast. I don%26#39;t care if I have to drive a little out of my way to get to a place to stay - I just don%26#39;t want to have to take the truck/uhaul back OUT once I am settled in a place. Any thoughts?

Rather than staying in Uptown, which probably isn%26#39;t too dog-friendly and would be more difficult with a U-Haul, you might like to check out Huntersville at I77 exit 25. This is just north of Charlotte and close to Lake Norman.

There are several hotels in the area and a really nice shopping/restaurant/hang out area called Birkdale Village.

Here are some local hotels - the Residence Inn is just a short walk from the Village and has a large open area nearby where you could walk your dogs.

These other hotels are just across the road from the Village.

You would need to check whether any or all of these places allow dogs. Note there is a local by-law that dogs have to be on a leash when outside.

If you do decide to stay in this area Positano Osteria, Maddie%26#39;s Southern Bistro, T1 Tapas %26amp; Eez Asian Fusion are all good places to eat in the Village. You%26#39;ll also find a Cold Stone Creamery, Italian Gelato place, Wine Bar %26amp;, of course, a Starbucks! If you%26#39;re passing through on a Friday or Saturday there is music by the fountain in the evening.

I would also try the Bruton Smith Blvd area off of I-85.

Thank you for the fantastic (and thorough) suggestions! Let the trip-planning commence!

THanks again, hope you are repaid with suggestions like these in kind one day!
