My husband and I have another rare opportunity to vacation for a week without our children. They will stay with our family in VA, we did this last year and traveled to the outer banks for a week and had a fantastic time. We are going to the outer banks in September with our in laws so we are looking for other ideals. We dont mind traveling apprx 2-3 hours out of VA. We are young, active couple, we enjoy adventure as well as serenity. We also love the beach and just hanging out. Does anyone have any suggestions? HELP
Traveling without Kids
I%26#39;m a little unclear...do you want suggestions for other NC beaches, or are you looking for something completely different?
Traveling without Kids
Just looking for something other than the outer banks, different setting, beaches, fun, activities tourist attractions etc....
As far as NC beaches go, I and most of my childless friends like to go to Wrightsville Beach, mostly due to it%26#39;s proximity to Wilmington. Downtown Wilmington has a bunch of dining, shopping, cafes, bars, nightclubs and such. So it%26#39;s often swim and sunbathe in Wrightsville by day, eat/drink/shop/party in Wilmington by evening/night.
It might be too far for you though...so Virginia Beach may be a better option?
If it is between now and September, head for the mountains. If you are from around Richmond, you could pick up the Skyline Drive/ Blue Ridge Parkway just the other side of charlottesville and head south to Grayson Highlands and the higher elevations in NCwhere you will feel so smart when the high is 75 and it is 95 in Richmond
^ Good suggestions. If you want the beach, Wrightsville/Wilmington is worth the trip, IMO. The mountains offer adventure and serenity in spades--there%26#39;s nothing like enjoying incredible views on a hike or rafting trip, then relaxing in the outdoor hot tub of your cabin perched on the side of a mountain, just you, your husband, and two glasses of wine...
Wow, I should write romance novels! :)
