day trip help needed

We are staying in Wrightsville in August. Looking to take a day trip (2 adults) to the north.. Probably Topsail or Surf City.

Looking to hang out on the beach. Nothing too busy - something similar to Wrightsville.

Also need recommendations for casual food places and places to explore.

Last year we went south and visited Southport - thanks to the forum - had a great time.

Great choice, Topsail is beautiful! You didn%26#39;t say what time of year your visiting, as summer is always busier, and hoildays can be terrible busy on the island.

Surf City has a nice beach and pier. We like to sit and watch the surfers. There are many casual restaurants within walking distance of Surf City. There is also a nice park with picnic tables, gazeboes, and clean public bathrooms(maybe for a picnic style lunch?).

North Topsail beaches are not as crowded, but no place to eat right on the beach, unless you go to the Seaview Pier, wich has good food, but no ocean view unless you go out onto the pier. And it is an actual fishing pier.
