Wedding Gift

My best friend just got married, and I%26#39;m looking for ideas for her Wedding Gift.

As the newly weds will not be taking a honeymoon this year, I was hoping to put together a little weekend package get away for them.

They currently live in Raleigh, and I was hoping to get them gift certificates for a nice dinner out, and maybe to something to do in the town.

As I%26#39;m in Wisconsin, and have yet to visit her down there, and they themselves have only lived there a month or so, suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!

One thing you may want to consider, is a night or two at a local bed %26amp; breakfast for them. Bedandbreakfastdotcom lists them by city.

The Oakwood Inn is a nice one, located in the historic section of Oakwood, near downtown.

It%26#39;s a bit out of town (maybe 30-40 minutes), but I%26#39;d look at this site:

http://www.fearrington.com/

Fantastic restaurant, very fancy, and a nice inn and shopping area. And it may be nice for them to spend a night or two in the countryside.

For in town there%26#39;s Angus Barn - very pricey but I think it%26#39;s excellent. Only downfall (big one for me) is that it%26#39;s right off a 4 lane highway.

If they like seafood, then Fins would be an excellent choice.

Another good one is Second Empire...romantic victorian mansion turned into a fancy restaurant.

For something a little more unique, Duck %26amp; Dumpling is an upscale modern Asian restaurant that%26#39;s delicious.

I would say go to www.downtownraleigh.com and see what is playing at Memorial Auditorium in the next month or so. The NC Theater, Broadway Series South, Pinecone are all local performing arts groups to google, depending on what they like. There is also the Durham Performing Arts Center, (DPAC) where there is a mix of shows. Or Koka Booth Ampitheater in Cary, that does a good mix of shows. It is an outside venuew. I would suggest picking a show and then coming back on here and we will suggest a restaurant nearby.

The Oakwood Inn www.oakwoodinnbb.com has weekend theater packages. It%26#39;s a quaint little B%26amp;B in the historic section of downtown Raleigh. The innkeepers are very sweet and cook a delicious breakfast. Some ideas for activities are as follows(I%26#39;ve listed a variety as I%26#39;m not sure what kind of things they enjoy):

1. Dinner and theatre- the Oakwood Inn folks have a package

2. Downtown raleigh segway tour- it sounds geeky, but I%26#39;ve gone and it is SO fun.

3. Dinner and a movie at Raleighwood theater

4. Tickets for the NC Zoo

5. Tickets for a Cat Walk at the Carnivore Preservation Trust in Pittsboro www.cptigers.org

6. Checkout www.downtownraleigh.com for more ideas

dinner at nana%26#39;s in durham and a night at the morehead manor b%26amp;b.
