Ocean front -vs- Sound front

Me and several friends are looking into renting a house in Duck in August.

Many of the women want Ocean front so they could walk right out to the beach. However, I found a beautiful house that was Sound front.

Can anyone give me any information on what the major differences are? How is the beach? Can you swim in the water? Is there a breeze?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

the sound is beautiful for sunsets. the sand in the bay is mucky. You need to swim in the ocean. Kayak, jet ski or parasail in the bay. You can also catch crabs and sea turtles in the bay with chicken on a string. WATCH YOUR TOES!!

The island is very narrow at Duck so it isn;t too far to walk or drive to get to the ocean.

I have always stayed on the ocean side especially if you plan on going to the beach daily.

I August , very hot so AC is the rule Also be prepared for the occasional evacuation bec of Hurricanes in August
