Barrier Island's Ocean Pines, Duck, NC

Hi Folks, We are traveling here in the Spring. They have us in unit C5. I think that is by the Atlantic Ocean. It%26#39;s a 2 bedroom unit. Has anyone recently stayed in this unit, and would you be able to let us know what activities may be open all during April and early May. We are looking at 2009, and are hoping folks have good things to say about this resort and how they may have updated more rooms. Anything would be helpful.

Do they provide a welcome pack of the mini dish soaps, and washer soaps?

How is the indoor pool - clean, updated?

Are there any planned trips or activities during April and May?

Do they offer any perks if you do their tour (if offered)?

Thanks!

Hello,

I saw your post that you were planning on staying at Ocean Pines in April/May. How was your stay there. I will be staying there in August and I was curious if you have any feedback/advice from your trip. I think we also have a room in the the C building like you did.

Thanks so much

It was okay. The Top floor kitchen, living and dining area provided ample space. I did not care for the laundry access being outside at the bottom of your unit. Although private, it was a few stories down from the main floor. Plan on doing the laundry during the day instead of after dark. Pool area and bathrooms at the pool were not clean and we choose not to use them. The tennis court was convenient, but it%26#39;s best to bring your OWN racquets and balls vs doing the loaner through the office. Office staff, maintenace folks are friendly, smiling and helpful!

Thank you so much for your quick response! Your review sounds like what I have heard elsewhere, which is this not a 4 or 5 star place, much more rustic, but as long as I have those expectations, it will be fine. Any advice on which building to stay in? Just to let you know there will be a couple young kids in the group as well as some older adults. There will be 7 of us total. It%26#39;s too bad about the pool being in bad shape because I know the kids would have like that. Is the sound and the beach nice to swim in or did you go over to ocean?

We went in April so there was no swimming at that time. We could see the ocean from C units. We were on an end unit which is best. Their unit maximum is 6 and they pretty much enforce it due to fire code (fines if you go over code). The unit was updated with appliances, furniture and decorations. It was clean for the most part.

The pool may be clean when you arrive as you are more during peak time. Like I said the folks were friendly, helpful, responsive and I would give them 5 stars in that area alone. They run Barrier Ocean Pines Duck and a few other locations. The main check in desk is actually for 2 resorts and we stayed at their larger resort last year and this smaller resort this year. Rentals all go through the main resort as listed on your check in location.

There are basically 3 levels to your unit ground, beds %26amp; bath and top main living area. Stairs may be difficult for older folks.

It was quiet when we were there in April, check Trip Advisor for activities, and more to do, there is a wonderful network here of folks that love to help. :) Enjoy!

I am a little confused. I have been to Duck many times and stayed near Barrier Island on Duck Road in Duck. Is Ocean Pines the same thing or different??
