Hello all 鈥?a fantastic forum you have here 鈥?very active compared to some.
My family will be traveling through the NC, SC, TN area some time this year, and within our vacation, we were hoping to explore the area more, and scout out potential places to live. But we鈥檇 also like opinions from those who live there. So鈥?/p>
We have two daughters, aged 12 and 8, and would be bringing handicapped grandparents who don鈥檛 do well in humidity. (we鈥檝e heard this area of the country is low in regard to humidity 鈥?true?)
So, in no particular order, our prime concerns are:
-excellent education, elementary on up
-kids鈥?activities (any - sports, art, youth achievement, safe leisure)
-job market (millwright/maintenance or anything close, accounting, technical/industrial/computer artistic, construction)
-crime rate
-housing market (great community, but not right on top of each other)
-family activities (getting out and about)
-climate
-cultural activities
We need a starting off point in our search. So with these things in mind, if anyone has a comment or two about an area that may fit a couple of the above concerns, could you please pass it on?
Thanks so much for reading, and thanks in advance for any replies.
Scouting...
The south is low in humidity? Maybe the mountain areas. Otherwise you may have the SE mixed up with the SW, like dry Arizona.
Thought I%26#39;d get that said quickly before the topic is discontinued since it%26#39;s about relo, which is a no-no with TA. See if you could rephrase for any aspect of your travels to check things out...and by individual state according to the name on the forum. All the best.
Scouting...
I agree with explorer, may need to rephrase your questions to relate them more to travel.
As far as humidity, NC and SC are very humid states, especially in the summer! The further east you go the worse it gets.
For example this week our temps have been in the upper 80s lower 90s, humidity around 65%, with a 30% chance of thunderstorms. Typical summer forecast for Raleigh east.
As far as the rest of your questions NC has 100 counties and each of them have something different and unique to offer. Depends if you want urban to very rural, or something in between.
Might I suggest you check out the forums at city-data.com? Here%26#39;s the link to the Raleigh-Durham forum:

You will also find demographic information to help you with your search.
Oh yeah, the humidity thing.
If you live in Indiana then it will be worse here. If you truly want low humidity, move west of the Rockies; places like Boise, Idaho or Albuquerue, NM or Tuscon, AZ. The humidity out here (I live in Cary, NC) is so thick you can cut it with a knife.
