At what time does the bridge usually start to get backed up on Saturdays during the summer? My husband and I are driving to Nag Head on Saturday the 13th from a motel in Fredericksburg. I%26#39;m trying to figure out what time we need to leave our motel by in order to not get stuck. Last year we had a Sunday check in so it wasn%26#39;t a problem but when we left on the following Saturday afternoon the backup of cars going towards the island was unbelievable. Thanks!

I would say the earlier the better-meaning before 10 am. Find a place to have a nice lunch, shop, and then check in.
You also may want to consider taking the Monitor Merrimac bridge instead of the Hampton Roads Bridge tunnel to Norfolk area. The tunnel is a real headache in the summer-that may hold you up more so than the Wright memorial.
