A friend and i will be in the Asheville area from Sun June 7th through Wednesday June 10th. Basically we are looking for some interesting places to camp (we will be staying in Asheville the Tuesday night for a concert). I%26#39;ve heard such amazing things from that part of the state and i would really love to camp (or just stop off) somewhere where we could hike and or swim. Anywhere within an hour of Asheville would be fine. Thank you in advance for any help...

Mt Pisgah Campground has a fabulous location right off Blue Ridge Parkway with many hiking trails near by. The Pisgah Inn is just on the other side of the road where you find a store, restaurant, shower, park ranger station. It is only 20 miles from Asheville. You can book a space at recreation.gov. A few miles down on route 276 towards Breavrd you can go to Sliding Rock.
